Onyx is composed of various substances, with silica being the most prominent. The natural deposition of these substances over time determines the color of the extracted onyx. As a result, this semi-precious stone offers a wide range of colors, making it a highly versatile material for interior design.
Each piece of onyx features unique patterns and natural veining that add a distinctive touch to any space. Although nature plays the primary role, the resulting patterns from each block of onyx change depending on the cutting direction chosen by us humans; if the cut is transverse (cross-cut), a circular design will appear on the slabs, while if the cut is perpendicular (vein-cut), the veining on the slab will be linear. For this reason, the variety of onyx is extensive not only in colors but also in patterns and shapes.
